Human Factors

A comprehensive report by Margaret Bartholomew, Simon Flint, and Phil Greening from the Centre for Sustainable Road Freight examines the human and socio-political factors affecting electric heavy goods vehicles (eHGVs) adoption in the logistics industry. Based on interviews with Project Jolt partners, it identifies and ranks 17 critical challenges - from infrastructure and energy supply to driver training and public opinion. The analysis highlights that while technical issues like charging infrastructure and grid capacity are significant barriers, human factors such as business model adaptation, driver attitudes, and industry transition readiness play crucial roles. The report provides valuable insights and recommendations for policymakers and industry stakeholders working to accelerate the transition to zero-emission freight transport.
